I just couldn't look at Sandie's page and see it empty. No one should be relegated to and empty page after living on this planet for almost 62 years.

Sandie was one of my oldest and dearest friends. Those of you who knew her, knew she had a wicked sense of humor and a bit of a rebel streak in her. She was a truly gifted and talented person. From playing classical music on the grand piano, She even made a record once, to hand cross stitching her grandkids Christmas stockings. She even wrote a column for a local newspaper at one time. Sandie tried going in the convent after highschool, but it was not for her. We met up winter quarter at OSU. And we were best friends right away. The stories I could tell!

Below is an excerpt her daughter wrote about her. And Niki is right. Her grandkids were one of the most important aspects of her life. Along with her pride in her daughter, and her siblings. Sandie and I talked weekly and she was always regaling the latest and greatest about her grandkids. She is greatly missed.

From Nicole Ducy Gassman (Sandie'sdaughter)

She was born in Norwalk, CT, August 1, 1947. There were 10 kids in her family, 4 boys and 6 girls. She was #7 in birth order. When she was 16 (I think)(Sandie came for Senior year) they moved to Ohio. She met my dad at Ohio State. My dad worked for Xerox and got transferred a lot. We lived in Redondo Beach, CA, Aurora, CO, Lake St. Louis, MO, then back to Aurora, CO. In 1998, she got very sick, and when she was better we decided she should move to St. Louis where I was living at the time. And she was in St. Louis from then until she died, with the exception of about a year in Springfield, IL.

I was born 12/5/73. We have 3 children, Lili (4/6/05), Austen (11/5/06) and Desmond (1/11/09). The morning Lili was born she drove up from St. Louis to Chicago (where we lived at the time) and got there just 4 hours after Lili was born. And Desmond's birth she got to watch all of via webcam. She got to meet and hold Desmond a couple of times before she died which I am very grateful for. Her grandkids were her life. She loved them so much.

I just found this site.  It was a shock to learn that Sandy had passed.  I remember the first year Agnes Ann Lane came to Watterson.  We were in the senior class play chorus.  (The Sound of Music).  I also knew her sister Jonnie and brother Mick who went out with my sister a couple of times.  I remember her mom and dad too, and wish them the best.
