Mary Kathleen (Pye) Nunn

A memorial service for Mary Kathleen (Pye) Nunn, 60, of North Bend, will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Boat House on Boat Basin Drive in Charleston. A reception will follow. Cremation was held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory, in Coos Bay.

Mary was born Jan 5. 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of William F. and Myrtle (Seale) Pye. She died June 2, 2007, in North Bend.

She received her bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Mary received her master's degree in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Michigan. She lived in the Coos Bay-North Bend area for the past 26 years, where she was a speech language pathologist for the South Coast Education Service District and Coos Bay Public Schools. Mary spent most of her teaching career at Madison Elementary School, where she cherished the time spent with her students.

She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Chapter CS. Mary was an avid outdoors person and loved hiking and beach combing. Her passion for animals was an integral part of her life.

Mary is survived by her siblings, William F. Pye Jr. of Plymouth, Mich., Virginia E. Hill of Bensalem, Pa., Stephanie S. Pye of Chicago, Ill., and Patricia M. Luckhaupt of Dayton, Ohio; nephews, William F. Pye III and Joshua Hill; nieces, Jennifer Newcombe, Sarah Luckhaupt and Emily Luckhaupt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
